The main way she explains the pathfinder tool is making a cloud as an example of how to use it for making drawings. He explains how in illustrator you can change sizes of different shapes without losing the quality of the shape from when it was a different size. He explains how pixelation only occurs in illustrator if you zoom into the image way too much but in photoshop it pixelates a lot easier.
